Artist Reception: Sat Sept 7, 5-7pm

Ellen Crimmins: Bio: Ellen has an undergraduate degree in Art, and a Masters Degree in Special Education. After teaching Special Education in the Pine Plains School District for thirty-six years, she returned to her first love…painting. She has studied with Rhinebeck artist Betsy Jacaruso, Newburgh Artist M.E.Whitehill, and famed botanical artists Karen Kluglein of Sag Harbor, and Marny Ward of Vancouver. After painting botanicals for several years, she joined the ASBA, The American Society of Botanical Artists. During the Pandemic years, she started to explore waxing watercolors instead of matting and framing behind glass. She continues to use this method today. Ellen has exhibited in Rhinebeck, Dutchess and Ulster Counties, New York City, China and Australia. Sneak peak of Ellen’s artwork on Instagram at @ellen.crimminsart

Hana Gordon: Bio: After a 30-year career as the Rhinebeck H.S. Librarian and before that, an Art History major at Syracuse University and an MLS from SUNY at Albany, I felt that I came full circle when, in the 1980s, I signed up for watercolor classes with Marj Wheeler at the Rhinebeck High School. Upon retirement in 2003, I took up painting more seriously and studied with Betsy Jacaruso in Rhinebeck and Staats Fasoldt at the Woodstock School of Art. I also took up pastels with Keith Gunderson. I have since exhibited in galleries on both sides of the Hudson River including the Art Society of Kingston, the Woodstock School of Art, Woodstock Artists Association and Museum (WAAM), Betsy Jacaruso Gallery and Museum, Montgomery Row and Art Along the Hudson. The inspiration for my art is simply the beauty of the world around me whether it be a Hudson River view, a vineyard in Tuscany or a perfect peony.

Francoise Ursat: Bio: I started to paint seriously in the ‘90s and studied at the Art Students League in New York. After moving to Alexandria, VA, I joined the Art League Association at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in 1995 and took various classes in drawing and oil painting with well-known Washington, DC area artists. My oil paintings were exhibited and sold in juried shows at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. After moving to Rhinebeck, NY, in 2001, I studied watercolor with artist Betsy Jacaruso. I was a member of Crossriver, I participated in exhibits at the Woodstock Artists Association, Barrett Art Center, and ASK in Kingston. I enjoy painting what I see in my travels or here in the Hudson Valley and lately scenes from my Imagination.
