Paintings and Monographs by Penny Dell – Inspired by Patterns from the Interiors of Security envelopes
Join us for an Art Reception Sat Sep 15, 5-7 pm. Meet Penny Dell, view exhibit, and enjoy nibbles and refreshments.
Dell, a Hudson Valley artist, recycles patterns from the interiors of security envelopes producing pattern against pattern until each work is reminiscent of a patchwork quilt. The application of encaustic or gilding onto hand-made paper, woodcuts or monoprint backgrounds individualizes each print.
This exhibit reflects on the concept of security itself, and its iteration in many forms: security blankets, cyber security, homeland security, social security, or securities sold in the stock market. Dell says: “We yearn for security, but on every level, Security is imperfect. With businesses now encouraging a paperless office, security envelopes may soon be nostalgic collectibles.”
Artwork is for sale through the artist.
